Our fishmongers prepare your order to your specifications, whether you would like to receive your whole fish filleted, oysters shucked, or your crabs cleaned. When packaging your order, we carefully prepare every item by hand, holding it to our high standards and your specifications. When you receive your order, you can expect each item is wrapped in waxed paper, sealed in plastic and carefully packaged with ice packs in an insulated, leak proof box designed specifically to maintain quality and integrity.

Payment Methods

We accept VISA, MASTERCARD, DISCOVER, and AMERICAN EXPRESS. All prices are exclusive of sales tax.

Processing and Fulfillment

If an order is received by 4 PM Monday through Wednesday, it will be processed and shipped within 24 hours. Therefore, an order placed by 4 PM Monday through Wednesday will arrive TWO days after it is placed. Click here for information about local delivery or in-store pick-up, instead.

If an order is received after 4 PM, it will be considered part of the next day’s orders.

If an order is received by 4 PM on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday, you will receive it by Tuesday of the following week. You will also have the option to choose a Saturday delivery for an extra charge.

We ship all perishable items Overnight to arrive by 12pm. Someone must be present to sign for the order. Perishable products must be refrigerated upon arrival to maintain their quality and freshness.

We need 24 HOURS from receipt of your order to process and fulfill it. You may place an order anytime, up to one week before your desired delivery date.

Order Adjustments/Cancellations

For Nationwide Shipping Orders:
For orders shipping via overnight, order adjustments or cancellations would be accepted until 3pm the day prior to their shipment (example, 3pm Wednesday for an order shipping Thursday to be received on Friday).
For non-perishable items shipping via ground, like our gifts/store gift cards, adjustments and cancellations will be accepted until 12pm the day after you have ordered.
For items digitally fulfilled, like our e-gift cards or event tickets, we are unable to make adjustments or allow for cancellation of these items.


For Local Orders:
For in-store pickup or local delivery, order adjustments or cancellations will be accepted until 3pm the day prior to scheduled pickup or delivery (example, 3pm Wednesday for an in-store pickup Thursday).
For items digitally fulfilled, like our e-gift cards or event tickets, we are unable to make adjustments or allow for cancellation of these items.

Delivery, Shipping & Handling

Due to the perishable nature of our products, all orders require signature upon delivery. Items should be unpacked and refrigerated immediately upon arrival. We cannot ship to P.O. Boxes, A.P.O./F.P.O.’s, or outside of the continental United States.

To maintain freshness and quality, any order that includes a perishable item must be shipped overnight. All Perishable orders are shipped Overnight. Non-perishable items are shipped Ground. Click here for information about local delivery or in-store pick-up, instead.

For nationwide shipments, we use polystyrene boxes and ice packs to insulate perishable products; this maintains the quality and integrity of your products. Your food will arrive fresh; to keep it fresh, we suggest immediately refrigerating or freezing all perishable items. For more information about recycling, you can visit http://www.epa.gov/recycle/recycling-basics. In NYC, you can get more specific information at http://www.grownyc.org/recycling/faq.

Saturday delivery is available on all orders placed through Thursday, for an additional shipping company charge.

Overnight and Saturday delivery service are not available to customers in “remote” locations. For purposes of this Agreement, the term “remote” locations are defined as locations outside of the delivery company's specified delivery area. If, the remote location can be accommodated, your delivery may arrive by 4:30 PM.

Seafood Flat Rate Overnight Shipping and Delivery Zones

Flat rate overnight shipping charges are determined by destination zone, regardless of weight.
If the delivery destination is within Zone 1, there is a $34.99 flat rate overnight shipping charge for orders.
If the delivery destination is within Zone 2, there is a $59.99 flat rate overnight shipping charge for orders.
If the delivery destination is within Zone 3, there is a $69.99 flat rate overnight shipping charge for orders.
There is an additional $25.00 fee for Overnight Saturday Delivery.

Zone 1 is comprised of the following delivery destinations: Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia.

Zone 2 is comprised of the following delivery destinations: Alabama, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee.

Zone 3 is comprised of the following delivery destinations: Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada. New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming.

All prices are exclusive of sales tax.

Shipping Gifts & Gift Cards

When shipping our Gifts, each item is shipped based on its own rate. The shipping charges are determined by the weight of the order (including all packaging needed to maintain freshness) and size of box. Our perishable gifts require overnight shipping. Our non-perishable gifts can be sent, ground or you may choose an expedited option. These rates and charges are determined by the shipping company. Each of our gifts indicate if they are perishable or non-perishable and also if free ground shipping is included.

If you are ordering a gift card we would like to remind you that they are currently only usable in person at one of our Citarella Gourmet Markets in Manhattan, the Hamptons or Greenwich, CT. If a gift card is an add-on item to your order of fresh seafood or with one of our gift baskets, the gift card will be included at no additional shipping charge. When ordering only a gift card, it can be sent ground or you may choose an expedited option. These rates and charges are determined by the shipping company.

When ordering a copy of the Joe Knows Fish cookbook, it can be sent ground or you may choose an expedited option. These rates and charges are determined by the shipping company.

Returns

We want to make sure that our customers receive the freshest and highest quality foods. If you are at all dissatisfied with your order, please contact us as soon as possible at help@citarella.com. Please hold on to your order and don’t discard any items until we’ve contacted you. It would be very helpful if you would take photos of packaging and product so that we may better serve you.

Delays/Substitutions

If we are temporarily out of stock on a particular item, we will substitute a similar product of equal or greater value to meet your requested delivery date. In compliance with the terms of our Privacy Policy, we will use commercially reasonable efforts to contact you by e-mail or phone if there are any backorders or problems with your order, so please make sure to provide us with accurate contact information. If we are not able to fulfill a portion or your entire order, we will refund that amount to your original form of payment.

Limitation of Liability

Except with respect to payment obligations, Citarella will not be liable for, or will not be considered to be in breach of this Agreement on account of, any delay or failure to perform as required by this Agreement as a result of any causes or conditions that are beyond our reasonable control and that we are unable to overcome through the exercise of commercially reasonable diligence. If any force majeure event occurs (which shall include, without limitation, acts of God, telecommunications, Internet or network failure, results of vandalism or computer hacking, fire, explosion, storm or other natural occurrences, any conflicting order, direction, action or request of the United States government (including, without limitation, state and local governments) or of any regulatory department, agency, commission, court, bureau, corporation or other instrumentality, or of any civil of military authority, national emergencies, insurrections, riots, wars, strikes, lockouts, work stoppages or other such labor difficulties), we will use commercially reasonable efforts to minimize the impact of such event. Notwithstanding the foregoing, Citarella’s obligations to one another shall be excused and/or postponed during and only for the duration of the applicable force majeure event and shall resume as soon as practicable after the force majeure event has ended. Citarella is not liable for loss, damage, or delay caused by events we cannot control, including acts of God, perils of the air, weather conditions, or if there is no one available to accept the package. If the package that you are shipping is perishable, please make sure that the recipient will be home to receive it.

The contents of the Websites are protected by copyright and trademark laws and are the property of Citarella.

The law of the State of New York applies to all transactions originating from the Websites. The customer agrees that in the event any action that arises out of or relates to the transaction of business through this site will be filed only in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York. And the customer hereby submits to the exclusive personal jurisdiction of such courts for the purpose of litigating such action.
